Is your business hardly bringing in enough sales? Are debts mounting for you? Or perhaps you have a website that has never given you a return for all the cash that you have invested in it? If any of these situations describe your business, then it is dead. A business that is truly alive brings returns every day and feeds and pays to costs for its' owners.

Now that you have admitted that your business is dead, you need to seek a way to bring it back from the dead. The easiest way to do this is with the help of a selling system. What is a selling system?

When you think about it, there is a system for everything and the interesting thing is that when many small businesses start they take a lot of care to create a system for many things. They will usually have an accounting system, a production system and so on. A system is supposed to ensure that everything runs smoothly. For instance much emphasis is usually placed on an accounting system so as to minimize the chances of staff stealing money from the business. The system will usually involve an elaborate process for generating receipts and controlling the stocks or the materials used in producing the products being sold. So for instance if employees collect cash from a client and pocket it, the owner will be able to tell from the material used that more sales have been made than what he has received money for. I dare say that some of these accounting systems are very innovative and fairly effective in protecting the small business owners from being robbed blind by their employees.

However what is REALLY strange is how so many businesses think of creating all kinds of systems which are all less important than a selling and marketing system to help them sell their product or service. Surely if there are no sales, there will be nothing to account for hence there will be no need for an accounting system. And also there will be no need to produce anything and so no need for a production system.

A selling system is a specially designed process a business uses to constantly generate new leads and then gradually process them by moving them along a process until they are ready to buy. Usually it will involve giving your prospects valuable service or a sample of what it is you sell in such a way that you win them over as customers.

Let me describe the simplest and yet most effective selling system I have ever seen in action. You may have seen it in action. I have witnessed it being used on two different continents miles apart. On a hot day when temperatures are high, a lemonade stand gives all passersby a taste of their cool drink which on a hot day is irresistible. It would seem that the lemonade stand is wasting valuable lemonade that it would have otherwise sold. The truth is that this selling system tempts many passersby who would have otherwise not made a purchase to buy and at the end of the day the lemonade given free is but a small fraction and a tiny part of the total costs from the huge revenue made from lots of sales. Sales that would never have happened without the free samples.
